Aux aurores (de 6:00 à 9:00), Tour « Good Morning Mumbai » avec Mumbai Magic :
The best time to explore Mumbai is in the early mornings, when the roads are peaceful and quiet.
In this tour, we will pickup around 6:00 a.m. from your hotel, and head to the colourful wholesale Dadar flower market where the day’s supply of flowers arrives and is sold amidst noise and bustle. From here, we will visit Dhobi Ghat to see the city’s famous open-air laundry in action.
We will then drive through the British Heritage District for some excellent morning photography. Around 7:30 a.m., we will visit the Sassoon Docks to see the trawlers come in with the day’s fishing catch. You can see the city’s fisherfolk at their chaotic best!
We will return to your hotel in South Mumbai by 8:30 or 9:00 a.m. for breakfast.
If you are at a hotel in North Mumbai, we suggest you bring packed breakfast, or have breakfast in South Mumbai and then be dropped back. https://mumbaimagic.com/good-morning-mumbai.html
Puis tour de Fort à pieds (9:00 à 11:00):
This is a great way to explore Bombay’s British history and architecture. The ‘Fort’ refers to a fort built by the British East India Company, hugging the eastern coast, which was demolished in the 1860’s. When you walk inside this area, you will see an amazing variety of historic landmarks and buildings, constructed in different styles of architecture and built in a variety of local and imported materials. The varied use of multiple stones has imparted a unique polychromatic effect to the facades, particularly to those of public buildings built in the 19th and 20th century. Each building tells a fascinating story, about the men who built it, and the historic events associated with it. https://mumbaimagic.com/fort-heritage-district-walk.html
Repas de midi : Britannia and Co versus Kyani and Co
Puis « Food walk tour through Matunga Market » :
This is a food-oriented bazaar walk, that takes you to one of the traditional middle-class markets of the city. The walk is ideal for foodies and anyone interested in understanding the rich cuisine legacy of India.
The Matunga area was settled in the 1930’s and 1940’s, as the city grew northwards from its original southern beginnings. Today this is a bustling, prosperous area, home to three different communities: Hindu Tamil Brahmins, Hindu Gujaratis from trading communities, and Jains. All three communities are vegetarian, but follow different religious rules. As a result, their cuisines reflect their rich food traditions, evolved over the years in accordance with specific food taboos.
The Matunga area is not just a vibrant food market – it is a cultural epicenter, housing several popular temples for Hindus and Jains. The walk will cover these temples, other shops in the market (textiles, household goods, etc) and the colourful Matunga flower market.
We will start the walk at Astika Samaj, one of the most popular temples in the area. From here, we will walk through the neighbourhood, seeing daily life in the area, and getting a feel for the history and culture of the area. At the food market, we will introduce you to typical vegetables, herbs, aromatics and spices that are available in the market, and how they are used by different communities in daily food. We will stop at a popular local store, selling a dazzling array of snacks and treats. There is a hygienic tasting counter, where you can sample many of these tasty specialty treats. At the ‘mukhwas’ counter, you can sample a wide range of mouth fresheners.
We will end the walk with a visit to a popular restaurant for coffee and a South Indian snack.

Tour « The poeple of Mumbai » avec Mumbai Magic (9:00 à 13:00):
This tour will give you a fascinating insight into Mumbai’s diverse people – their clothes, religion, food and ways of life.
Start the tour with the Kolis, the fisher folk who were the original inhabitants of Mumbai, and who gave the city its name.
Drive to Colaba to see the Parsis. Mumbai would not be the same without its Zoroastrian inhabitants. Not only would the flavour of the city become more bland, much of its history would also be lost without them.
You can also see St. Thomas Cathedral, one of the oldest Anglican Churches in Mumbai, with an active Christian community that is very much a part of the city.
Two Jewish communities, the Baghdadi Jews and the Bene-Israel have been associated with the city in the past- and have given the city many of its important landmarks. The tour takes you to one of the oldest synagogues in Mumbai.
Mumbai has a large Muslim population, including Bohras, Khojas, Memons and several other communities. Drive or walk through the by-lanes of Mohammed Ali Road for a glimpse of their lives.
And, for a look at the large Hindu community, we’ll take you to see the Banganga water tank and the Walkeshwar temple, two of the oldest religious monuments in Mumbai.
Mumbai is also home to Sikhs, Jains and Buddhists – come on this tour and take the first step towards understanding the rich mix of people that make up India.
